I decorated our tree with fancy glass ornaments which haven't seen the light of day since the kids were little. This is possible because my son assures me that he will no longer yank the light strings off the tree and wrap them around himself, which he did when he was three. Boys are such strange creatures.
I sent Christmas cards out – something I usually do in August. After a several year moratorium, I made 2 tons of cookies – including a memorable Saturday with three other women, where we baked for a good 8 hours and made every fancy cookie recipe we had. We also drank mulled wine. It was fun; I went to bed at 7p that night. I can’t eat raw cookie dough or drink the way I used to.
It was a good thing I was so productive, since the sinus infection of November has returned with a vengeance. I’ve spent the last 3 days on the couch wrapped in a blanket. Bhlerg.
This infection bothered the Dr greatly, since apparently it is a Very Bad Thing to have so much antibiotic resistant infection so close to the brain.
I’m not too worried since I don’t use my brain all that much. Plus, my new antibiotic is strong enough to give me a yeast infection after one dose, so it must be working.
The upside – everyone else has to do Christmas prep because I am incapable of remaining upright for more than a few hours at a time. Doing anything makes me cough like a three pack a day smoker and wears me out. So I make grocery and to-do lists and dispatch them to my family. I should have thought of this decades ago. I’m really enjoying Christmas this year.
Since my voice is shot, I call Mr. W’s cell phone (he said, quote, “no way am I giving you a whistle”) to request a cup of tea, a cushion for my feet or more water in the humidifier. He has to come running because I am vewy sick. Even though I feel cruddy, this is fun.
I haven’t been on lj much, except for the very occasional comment – so if anything important has happened to anyone, please let me know.
I think my pillows need fluffing. Where is that phone???
